Hello My Name Is...
Hello! My name is Katie Rodning. I am originally from Waldorf, MN. I decided in 1st grade that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up! Both of my parents and numerous relatives are also teachers. I graduated from Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in 1995. After my coursework and student teaching for 10 weeks in pre-school, 5 weeks in kindergarten, and 10 weeks in 2nd grade, I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1999 with a degree in Elementary Education, emphasis in Early Childhood, and coaching and kindergarten certificates.
Since I graduated in December, I chose to move to Houston, TX to teach, as there were jobs available mid-year. I finished out the year teaching first grade to ESL students and enjoyed the challenge and learning experience. The following year, I moved back to Minnesota and taught kindergarten in New Ulm for one year. I was then hired here in Fairmont. I taught kindergarten for 7 years, moved up to 2nd grade in 2007. I received my Masters Degree in Education in 2007 through Saint Mary's University and am still continuing to further my education. There are always advances in education and new strategies and ideas to reach all learners. As a looping teacher that has the opportunity to work with students for two years, I thoroughly enjoy working with first/second graders and love their enthusiasm for learning!
I married Ole Rodning (originally from Nicollet, MN) in August of 2001. We have three children. We live in on an acreage outside of town and enjoy country life. I enjoy sports, photography, making invitations and cards, party planning, Pinterest projects, and spending time with my family. We think Fairmont is the perfect place to raise our family and I just LOVE teaching at Fairmont Elementary School!
