To the Families of Fairmont Area Schools:
It is with great pleasure and honor to introduce myself as the new principal for Fairmont Area Junior-Senior High School. I look forward to transitioning from the classroom to my new administrative role. With your help and support we can continue the strong tradition of excellence expected from a Fairmont Area graduate.
I have served in this district for the last fifteen years as a mathematics teacher. Overall, I have nineteen years of experience in the field of education. This experience has taught me the vital role of connecting schools, families, and the community in the education of our youth. I look forward to meeting each of you and working with you to build a community where every child is known, cared for, and held to high expectations.
There are two fundamental beliefs I hold which I would like to share with you. The first being the importance of attendance. Research has shown attendance impacts the learning process more than any initiative or instructional strategy implemented by the school or teacher. With this being said, we need your support in having your child in school, on time, and ready to learn. The second belief I would like to share with you is the importance of trust. As a school district we need your trust to know the decisions we make are always made in the best interest of each individual child and for the safety of all the children we serve.
I am blessed to have worked and continue to work in a district where students and their success is put above all else. I will work hard to carry on and elevate the work this district has done to bring about improvements in the area of teaching and learning. I invite you to join us in our mission to bring high levels of learning to all students. Together we can ensure no child will be left behind.
Kim Niss, Principal
